Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS)

The broad purpose of PBIS is to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of schools' discipline protocol.  PBIS improves social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students, including students with disabilities and students from under-represented groups.

With PBIS, which emphasizes and rewards respect, safety and responsibility -- in short, doing the right thing -- each student learns the skills needed to become effective members of society and reach their individual potential in the community and workforce.   PBIS helps reduce the need for suspension and the unavoidably negative effects of time away from school.
