The Azusa Unified School District ("AUSD") desires to prepare students for responsible citizenship by fostering self-discipline and personal responsibility.  AUSD believes that high expectations for student behavior, effective classroom management and parent involvement can minimize the need for discipline.  Our staff uses preventative measures and positive conflict resolution techniques whenever possible. In addition, when discipline is used it is in a manner that corrects student behavior without intentionally creating an adverse effect on student learning or health.

When misconduct occurs, our staff implements appropriate discipline and attempt to identify and address the causes of the student's behavior. Continually disruptive students may be assigned to alternative programs such as counseling or alternative educational settings accordance with law, Board policy and administrative regulation.

At all times, the safety of students and staff and a conducive and orderly school environment is our priorities in determining appropriate discipline.
